Chelsea are bidding to make it an all-English Uefa Champions League final as they welcome Real Madrid to Stamford Bridge for the second leg of their semi-final tie tonight.
Manchester City saw off Paris Saint-Germain 2–0 on Tuesday night to seal a 4–1 aggregate victory, booking a spot in their first ever Champions League final in the process.
Either Chelsea or Real will join them in Istanbul on May 29, and the last remaining semi-final is finely balanced ahead of this evening’s clash in west London.
Christian Pulisic scored a valuable away goal for Chelsea in the first leg in Madrid, but Karim Benzema’s goal ensured the game ended 1–1 — and the Blues know that was an opportunity missed given their early dominance in the Spanish capital.
Chelsea will be favourites to progress given that away goal, but Real are masters of the European Cup having lifted the trophy 13 times before. Zinedine Zidane has won it three times as Los Blancos coach, and former Chelsea hero Eden Hazard will be desperate to make an impact having endured an injury-plagued Madrid career.
